Earlier this month some friends invited me to join them on a huge hike, one that would be my hugest ever. All the reasons to say no immediately flooded my mind– I’ve been nursing an ankle/knee thing all summer, my neck/back are always a problem, what about dropping all my work on a Tuesday etc. Then I got in my car and began driving home and a single simple thought surfaced– do it anyway.
Not because my body was perfectly fit, not because I had all the time in world, not because I had someone to cover my work– but ANYWAY. It’s maybe a secret roadmap to life– the path of the anyways. When you “can’t” or “shouldn’t” or “it wouldn’t make sense” or “wouldn’t be smart”. But despite it all, you still find the risk of leaving an experience on the table greater than the risk of facing your fears.
Moment of Gratitude: My body did hurt (real bad, LOL) and I did miss work. But I gained the sense that the universe has carved out portals of growth for each of us, if only we’re brave enough to take them. If only we’re smart enough to see that nothing else matters. If only we’re wise enough to know that they’ll take us to the greatest destination, further within ourselves.
